S.E.A.L.S.
See Mr. Rob if you are interested in attending this course.
Twice a year, Troops are invited to select two Scouts and two alternates to participate in Scouts Excited About Leadership Skills (S.E.A.L.S). which is designed to improve the leadership skills of the scouts in your troop. Participants will leverage the foundation from basic leadership training provided at the troop level and will be shown how to apply and use leadership skills and scout spirit effectively in a scout-led troop. Scouts should not be more than 14 years old and must have achieved First Class.
The course will be held at Belk Scout Camp March 7-9. Registration closes Feb 14 and usually fills up quickly. Participants will receive instructions for what to bring and how to drop off and pick up at camp. The cost is $50. You may submit your fee to: bstroop15.treasurer@gmail.com. Do not submit payment until your Scout has been notified of their selection. For more information about the course and what to bring see this link https://www.mccscouting.org/seals
Participants must submit an up to date BSA medical form (parts A and B), along with a copy of the front and back of his/her medical insurance card. We can provide you a copy of the form used for summer camp if you feel your Scout's condition has not changed and the form is not more than a year old.
Each participant must submit a S.E.A.L.S. Code of Conduct form signed by the participant and the participant’s parent/guardian. Any participant who cannot provide these documents will not be allowed to participate in the course. The deadline to submit these documents to the Council Service Center/Scout Shop located at 1410 E. 7th St Charlotte is February 21, 2025.
Troop Meeting/OA Elections
Scouts may be eligible to be elected into the Order of the Arrow. This is an honorary camping fraternity of Scouting America. To be considered, a Scout must be at least First Class rank and have completed 15 nights of camping - which must include one long term camp.Read more about the program, it's rich history throughout Scouting, special events coming up and what it means to be an Arrowman here: https://oa-scouting.org/
Scouts should check their camping log in their Scout Handbook to verify if they have the required number of camping nights. You may only count one summer camp or high adventure experience towards the 15 total nights.
Members of the OA are elected each year by their fellow Scouts. We will hold our elections on March 3 during the Troop meeting. A representative of Catawba Lodge #459 will describe the program and answer any questions prior to conducting the election.
There are three levels of Arrowmen - Ordeal, Brotherhood and Vigil. If you qualify and want to be considered for membership, you must let Rob know by February 24 so you may be on the ballot.
